A teenage student at Metropolitan Learning Center in Bloomfield was arrested on Thursday after police said she gave a weed brownie to another student that ended up needing to go to the hospital.

Officers were called to the Metropolitan Learning Center on Blue Hills Avenue on June 11. They said a 15 year old student whose name was not released was hyperventilating in a stupor state. He was eventually taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center for evaluation.

Police say they suspected that up to eight students had consumed the brownies and that they knew what the brownies were.

Is this a case of kids will be kids?

On Thursday police arrested one student whose name was not released. She was charged with risk of injury to a minor. She was released and promised to appear at Hartford Juvenile Court on July 2.

Parents were of course notified in this situation–through a letter.

“Any students found to be a party to this incident will be issued the maximum possible penalty, including possible expulsion and/or arrest,” the letter read.

Metropolitan Learning Center officials have not told what types punishments will be given to the kids involved.

If this was your child would you be worried? Is this something to watch out for? Or is this just teenage kids being teenage kids?
